ExReport Version 3.0.1.1

64bit systems can now take advantage of up to 4GB of memory on top of the operating system. A system with multiple cores and 8GB RAM will be optimal for ExReport to run bigger queries.

Fixed: MySQL edition Grid grouping and filters and Pivot data selections are saved automatically with SQL query text, so that reports are landed and arranged on demand.

Improved auto SQL syntax formatting.

Error trapping on basic SQL syntax errors to prevent exceptions from the database which can cause a break in the SQL connection. This traps most errors and correcting the SQL statement will then work.

ExReport Version 3.0.0.0

A complete change of interface allowing for the controls  to be modified in line with Microsoft Ribbon style for Office

Colour scheme consistency with user selectable 'skins'

Modifications to Query builder to improve layout with SQL text

SQL text allows keyboard commands for select all CTRL + A to select all text.

Export to CSV implemented

Fixed Drill down in Pivot edition which was inconsistent.

Improvements to data access layer for MySQL with compatibility for Oracle MySQL 5.12 and upwards.

Improved Query saving so that Grid grouping and filters and Pivot data selections are saved automatically with SQL query text, so that reports are landed and arranged on demand.

Visual improvements to Query builder.

Version 2.0.0.0

Microsoft SQL Edition

MS SQL Data access layer.

ExSync  & ExReport version 1 used standard Microsoft ADO to connect to Microsoft SQL Server. In version 2 we have moved SQL data access to connect to SQL Server directly through OLE DB, which is a native SQL Server interface. This change has enabled us to develop a faster and cleaner SQL Server data connection.

ExSync & ExReport now connects through OLE DB through a set of COM-based interfaces. This is designed to be lightweight and consists of a minimal layer between the application and SQL Server databases.

In comparison, ADO uses several layers to access SQL Server, and requires additional data access software to be installed on client machines, either through ODBC or UDL connection.

Pervasive Data Access Layer

We are limited to using ODBC to access the Pervasive SQL data store to access Exchequer data to stay within the framework of read only access to Exchequer in order to maintain the business rules and integrity of Exchequer data.

This limitation affects performance and we have tried a number of different ways of accessing ODBC efficiently. ODBC is now implemented using advanced data access algorithms and optimization techniques. This has radically affected performance and enables us to convert data quickly.

Oracle MySQL

Version 2 sees the option for Oracle MySql connectivity. The key advantages are increased performance and lower cost.

ExSync & ExReport use a direct connection over the network to MySQL. In direct mode we bypass ODBC and all data access libraries to gain a much faster throughput to the database.

In comparison, the client mode uses several layers to access MySQL, and requires additional data access software to be installed on client machines, which affects performance.

With the MySQL version we gain performance.

A new add on product for ExReport is the Pivot Grid. This allows multidimensional views of the data with a simple select query or multiple joined queries.

The Pivot Table is all drag and drop allowing for unique views of the data not available in Exchequer.

When it comes to data mining and multi-dimensional analysis, the advanced and feature complete pivot table provides Exchequer users unrivaled insights into daily operations.

ExReport blows away the limitations posed by out-of-process reporting, and radically improves the way in which queries deliver information to end-users. With its powerful data architecture, the Pivot Table is able to slice and dice information efficiently and provide Exchequer users with an extremely intuitive end-user experience. It delivers numerous layout customization options with total end-user control over each individual on-screen report. Regardless of the perspective, data can be rendered to answer business questions - and best of all - it allows you to focus on business rules rather than creating dozens and dozens of reports.

Drill down and charting have been added to the Pivot table so that aggregate totals can have the individual items that make up the totals available.

New Licensing System

Customer demand for floating licences and increased flexibility and security made us look at a new licence system.

We have chosen a dongle based network aware system from Wibu Systems a world leader in software licencing, security and encryption.

This new technology allows us to simply deploy upgrades to licences and software. We will also be able to release new features in a single application and unlock licences easily.

Feedback

Most of the changes and new features have come from feedback from customers and we are always keen to hear from you to further improve the product and make it the best complimentary tool for Advanced Exchequer
